Cumbrian Estate launches galactic glamping

Blaithwaite Estate has added two stargazer lodges to its accommodation offering. Perfectly placed between the Solway Coast and the Lake District, each British built lodge have a mezzanine level with a panorama stargazing roof window, giving guests an uninterrupted view of the spectacular starscape above. The beautifully designed lodges sleep 4-6 people and come complete with modern amenities, an outdoor living area and access to the grounds of the 250-acre estate. Now open for booking, the brand new Stargazer Lodges have been built using a bespoke design template, making them the only lodges like it in England and are perfect for families and adults alike.

The two Stargazer Lodges at Blaithwaite, named Galaxy (sleeps four) and Comet (sleeps six), have muted colour palettes with soft grey and blue tones to mirror the dusky skies above them, using star themed textiles to create a stylish, tastefully themed space. Large, glass sliding doors let in the natural light, whilst the natural wooden features reflect the surrounding Cumbrian landscape.

The large lodges each have a mezzanine level accessed via a ladder with a panoramic skylight window above a cosy double bed, giving guests a spellbinding view of the skies. The view benefits from minimal light pollution allowing for a crystal clear look at the stars, planets and galaxies above. Each lodge also has a double bedroom on the bottom floor, a bathroom with a power shower, a fully equipped, modern kitchen and a bright, spacious living space area that leads out onto a patio. The Comet lodge has an extra pull-out king size bed to accommodate two extra guests. The comfortable lodges are full of little luxuries and personal touches such as a welcome pack filled to the brim with local produce, beautiful Egyptian cotton bedding, an inset LED electric fire with cosy flame screen and all of life’s modern amenities.

Located in the Estate’s Ellrigg Field, each Stargazer Lodge have an impressive, fully enclosed private outdoor space ideal for keeping children and pets safe. The large, glass sliding patio doors lead onto an integrated covered decking space with a pop-up bar and a bohemian-style hanging swing chair where guests can watch the sunset and the starscape start to appear. The lodges also have a BBQ area, patio furniture and a hard-sided Canadian Spa hot tub with views over the horizon and the Solway Firth – yet another picturesque spot to gaze up at the starscape.

Whilst staying at the Stargazer Lodges, guests will enjoy access to the 250-acre Blaithwaite estate. The Estate has numerous walking trails around formal gardens and woodlands as well as farm animals guests can help to feed, crazy golf, giant chess and dedicated play areas. Blaithwaite also has onsite activities which will keep both adults and children entertained including bushcraft, outdoor laser tag, pioneering, orienteering and treasure hunts.
