The Lengths Customers Go For NCC Approval

NCC Approved Manufacturer, Redline Campers is reaping the benefits of its NCC approval and seeing customers travelling far and wide for its conversions.
This was recently demonstrated by one customer who embarked on a 637-mile one day trip to view, purchase and collect a campervan, based solely on the strength of Redline’s NCC approval.
Based in Watford Gap near Daventry in Northamptonshire, Redline Campers became an NCC Approved Manufacturer in July 2024. Since then, many customers have cited this as a reason for choosing the manufacturer’s VW Transporter based campervan conversions. However, until now no other customers have gone to the lengths of recent customer Stuart Smith.
On Saturday 1st March 2025, Stuart Smith embarked on a journey which saw him leaving his Glasgow home and utilising a plane, train and taxis to reach Redline’s Daventry branch and purchase a campervan he had only previously seen online.
Flying out of Glasgow Airport at 9:45am, Stuart was with the team at Daventry by 12:20pm, and had already hit the road home in his new purchase by 13:00.
Whilst it is not uncommon for customers to travel significant distances to purchase vehicles from Redline Campers, Stuart represents an increasing trend of customers who are willing to travel these distances solely based on the strength of NCC approval.
Having previously owned a share in a campervan which he used to hire out, safety was at the forefront of Stuart’s mind when searching for the next campervan he would buy. Heading to Google in a quest to learn more about Volkswagen camper conversions, Stuart came across the Redline Campers’ website and was reassured by the information he found.
Sharing his thoughts, Stuart said: “The Redline website is reassuring, it explains the amount of checks involved and demonstrates that Redline is one of the few companies who have an ISO 9001 certification and are NCC Approved. As I will be using this campervan with my family and I will also be renting this out, this gives me peace of mind.”
This is welcome news to the team at Redline Campers due to the large amount of work that goes into ensuring its campervans meet NCC standards.
To achieve NCC Manufacturer Approval, Redline’s campervan conversions must undergo a comprehensive inspection of up to 600 points including its gas and electrical installations, furnishings, and cooking equipment. In passing the NCC’s checks, Redline’s campervan conversions are proven to be safe and compliant with BS EN 1646 European Health & Safety Standards. In addition to this, Redline’s campervan conversions are also VCA Type Approved and are built following a Quality Management System which is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Stuart was well aware of the important safety and technical checks required by the NCC’s Manufacturer Approval Scheme, which Redline Campers and other Approved Manufacturers are required to demonstrate compliance with. He said: “Redline Campers’ ISO 9001 certificate and NCC approval was a selling point for me as it gives me peace of mind that the build was done professionally and it was safe for both my family and hiring it out to others. I think it will be a good selling point when it is advertised to potential customers, also easing their concerns.”
After his 637-mile one day trip to collect his campervan, the team at Redline Campers are happy to hear that Stuart has a number of trips planned to enjoy everything his new purchase has to offer.
Stuart told the team he has trips to the West Highland Way, The Outer Hebrides, and the North Coast 500 planned. Whilst he also eventually hopes to take the camper out onto the continent and into Europe. Adding to this, he also said his five hour trip home to Glasgow was “enjoyable as I was in my new van but a bit tiring towards the end, still a good way to check the van was running ok though!”
Discussing the NCC’s Manufacturer Approval Scheme and Stuart’s epic journey, Simon McGrath, the NCC’s Director of Communications, said: “The NCC Badge of Approval demonstrates a manufacturers commitment to the safety of its products. Stuart’s epic 637-mile round trip also demonstrates just how important it is for customers too, and we hope he enjoys many more happy miles in his Redline campervan.”
