Initial site work completed at new adventure holiday resort

Initial preparations for a new £250m adventure holiday resort in the upper Afan Valley have been completed and work will not resume on site again until spring 2024.

Developers Wildfox Resorts have confirmed that for the next phase of the project, they will be focusing upon workforce development and planned social value and heritage initiatives.

As part of this, they are keen to speak to residents, local history groups and anyone who has an interest in sharing their memories of the valley. Further details on the arrangements for this will be announced soon.

A recent site visit offered an opportunity for guests including the Leader, Cllr Huw David, to find out more about how the resort could act as a catalyst for new employment and investment into the area.

Cllr David said: “Seeing the 318 acre site first hand really brought home the potential of this project. When the resort opens, guests will be accommodated by 570 lodges and 130 apartments and rooms amid some stunning scenery, and will be able to enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor adventure activities such as wild swimming, mountain biking, hiking, canyoning, bouldering and more.

“Located at Croeserw on the border with the Llynfi Valley, this remains a hugely ambitious development which could create more than a thousand new jobs and help to generate greater opportunities for tourism in the South Wales valleys. It will also offer plenty of supplier, training and investment opportunities for local businesses, and is certain to have a significant impact upon the local economy.”
