Experience a Big Schoolie Glamping Experience at Woolacombe, Devon.

A taste of Texas arrives in Devon!
One of Devons favourite campsites Lee Meadow Farm Campsite has partnered up with the cool guys at American School Bus Glamping to site a Big Yellow School Glamping Bus for 2024!
“We wanted to add another twist on our newly refurbished camping and glamping site, and ‘Texas’ from America offers just that” say campsite owners Matt and Trudi.
The Bus spent 20 years in service in Houston Schools District before being imported and beautifully converted and the owners have a similar Bus called Long Beach as well as a Yellow Submarine which are also in Somerset.
“We converted the School Bus with love and passion and fitted it out with everything so families can just turn up, stay and play,” explained American School Bus Glamping owner Andy Barton.
“Converting ‘Skoolies’ is a thing; everyone has tips and ideas for floor plans, styles, layouts and designs. Some are brilliant, others hilarious, many are boring, and some just weird. We set out to create the most beautifully converted cool & funky american school bus in the UK – and you can now stay in it for a unique experience you won’t stop talking about!
“Devon has always had a special place in my heart going back 40 years so I’m really pleased to team up with the team at Lee Meadow Campsite. The bus sleeps up to six with a full kitchen, shower and we left the original drivers cab area alone so kids can have fun being the driver”.
The bus – known as a ‘Skoolie’ by american kids – is a traditional iconic ‘Dog’Nose’ shape and offers a fabulous glamping experience.
Named ‘Texas’, the bus is warm and comfy with quality sleeping, fully equipped kitchen, spaces to sit, eat and lounge, great showers, and welcoming and bright open spaces with beautiful decor.
The kitchen is awesome, with a really good oven, grill and hob, and a big fridge/freezer so gastro creativity is a breeze.
There’s a proper dining table inside so you can enjoy glass or seven of Chateau Fallover, a perfect G&T or a cuppa tea – although whatever your chill is, you can get comfy and gaze at the seaview through all those panoramic windows, or be twelve again, sitting in the driver’s seat making bus noises with all the original buttons and stuff around you.
The bus sleeps up to six in comfort. To the rear is a king-sized bed with views on three sides, there are two further full-size single beds and a lovely sofabed sleeps two more in the same comfort. They also installed the coolest hot showers you’ve ever seen. This isn’t standard bring-your-own-bedding/towels camping – it’s all included.
Thoughtful touches include an illuminated mirror with a plug socket for fans of great hair.
Outside you can chill or whoop it up at the garden table – gazing at sunrises and sunsets under a billion stars, BBQ like a legend by a mesmerising Fire-Pit. For cooler evenings there’s real underfloor heating and an eco-burn woodstove and cosy throws inside.
Guests so far have loved staying in the bus – here’s what they said:
“We were there with our 4 & 6 year olds who loved the bunk beds and ‘driving’ the bus!”
