Europe’s Top Military Climbers Battle It Out at Gloucestershire’s 270 Climbing Park

Some of Europe’s most elite military climbers converged on Gloucestershire last week for a thrilling showcase of strength, agility and endurance at the European Military Climbing Championships, held at the renowned 270 Climbing Park.

Over three action-packed days, the international competition drew more than 60 high-ranking climbers from the UK, France, Italy and Kosovo. Spectators were treated to Olympic-style bouldering and lead climbing from June 24th to 26th, culminating in a high-stakes final on Thursday where the top performers competed for the championship title.

The event marked one of the most prestigious climbing competitions hosted in the UK this year, with daily events running from 10am to 4pm and free admission encouraging a strong turnout from local sports fans and climbing enthusiasts alike.

Set between Cheltenham and Gloucester on the edge of the Cotswolds, 270 Climbing Park provided an impressive venue for the event. Known as the UK’s most comprehensive climbing centre, it boasts world-class bouldering facilities and one of Europe’s tallest aerial adventure ropes courses.

The championship comes ahead of the launch of a major expansion at the park – one of the UK’s tallest indoor climbing gyms – scheduled to open in summer 2025 as part of a £7 million investment in the site.

In addition to its on-site offerings, 270 Climbing also runs the largest mobile climbing wall hire business in the UK, delivering adventure experiences to events and venues nationwide.
