Guest review: Aeron Coast Caravan Park

Popular guest reviewer and adventurer, Sarah Skilton, shares her exclusive review of this beautiful campsite.

We were inspired to stay at Aeron Coast Caravan Park after reading reviews online. Here’s a sample of the comments on Google, which promised:

“Lovely site, great location and clean facilities “

“A fantastic place for a holiday”

The site was easy to book, deposit sent off, letter received confirming booking – however, due to appalling weather that summer I telephoned two days prior to our holiday booking to confirm all was okay on site, and had a lovely friendly chat with reception who assured me that the pitches were still fine.

Arrival and booking in was a simple, stress free process. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were guided to our pitch and set up with no problems whatsoever.

All pitches on this site have electric hook-up, and we liked the fact that pitches are allocated so no risk of ‘losing’ it if you go off for the day. All vans have to be lined up the same way so you have your own semi private pitch as your back is to the next pitch.

The setting is excellent with a beach less than a minute’s walk away. There is access from site and dogs are welcome.

A lovely five-minute stroll along the beach takes you to the harbour and town centre, which has a good range of shops – best of all, it does not feel too ‘touristy’.

However, there is plenty to do on the site itself too.

The site was clean and well looked after, and features included a fantastic giant sand pit with a wooden play pirate ship, as well as a mini Football / basketball court, 1/2 sized tennis court and full- sized court plus an outdoor swimming pool which kids loved – all free.

There is an excellent family room for evening entertainment and bar prices were very reasonable. Son and Hubby enjoyed watching the football in the bar next door, but there are also several games rooms onsite with pool tables, table football, air hockey and a climbing frame and trampoline for under 5’s.

All the games were 50p so again very reasonable prices – I do have one complaint though – my 6 year old beat me at air hockey!

The facilities often make or break a campsite for many, however I am pleased to report that the toilet blocks here are modern and clean with free showers which was a nice change.

One minor grumble, the showers have the press taps which are a pain and if someone used the toilet or basin the shower water pressure dropped and became cold. Very minor though, on the whole the facilities here are very good.

There is a laundry area, but at £3 a wash I didn’t use it as we were only there for a week but would have used it, I suppose, if I had too or for a longer stay.

Overall the site lived up to our expectations. I was really pleased with the site, I found it excellent for families and would add to my list of ‘places to go again!’
