Just in time for summer, GO Outdoors has released a range of new Ultralite OEX Tents. 

Perfect for those who want to cut down on weight and pack size without sacrificing performance or spending a fortune, there are multiple styles available, ideal for multi-day hikers, ultralight campers and bikepackers who want the best gear at the best price.

The OEX Ultralite tent range has been developed for outdoor explorers who want to travel fast and light. Made from premium N-Liten Sil-Nylon fabric, the tents are approximately half the weight of the standard OEX tent range and offer a significantly reduced pack size.

Calum Jones, author and outdoor enthusiast at GO Outdoors comments: “The new Ultra-light range of tents from OEX use a fabric called sil-nylon to keep you sheltered from the elements. Silnylon is short for siliconised nylon. It’s made by applying a layer of silicone to the surface of the nylon and the silicone sinking into the fabric. The same happens on both sides, allowing the silicone to melt into the nylon until the fabric is saturated with silicone.

“This means that the waterproofing is ingrained into the fabric, rather than sitting on one side,

making it a much more effective waterproofing and increasing its durability. The result is an extremely lightweight tent with a great strength and tear resistance that maintains its waterproofness over time. Perfect when you’re on multi-day adventures or if you just want to carry a lighter pack.”

The range is composed of four tents, the Phoxx I+ UL, Bobcat I UL, Pantha II UL and Bandicoot II UL. GO Outdoors also stocks the Feral Tarp UL which is compatible with all of these tents.  All the tents in the range use an ultralight 10 Denier Silnylon for the flysheet and the inner tent is part mesh part 15 Denier Nylon fabric with a 10 Denier PU coated Nylon Ripstop groundsheet.

The Phoxx I UL has a bare weight of just 715g and comes with an oversized interior to accommodate taller backpackers. Equipped with N-Liten Sil/Nylon* fabric, it benefits from impressive strength and waterproof performance while packing down to an extremely compact size.

The ultralight shelter is perfect for solo wild camps and backpacking expeditions in the UK. It has a single-side entrance with a small porch for storing boots and kit. If you need more room, the shelter can be extended with the compatible OEX Feral UL Tarp (420 grams, sold separately).

The Phoxx has a single OEX Endura Pole made from high-tensile aluminium that adds strength to your setup without adding grams. It also has a small additional rear pole that increases the foot space for a more comfortable sleeping environment.

 

Bobcat I UL

Product Description: The Bobcat 1 UL is an incredibly light, single-pole ‘blade’ tent for expedition camping. Equipped with N-Liten Sil/Nylon* fabric, it delivers excellent strength-to-weight ratio and high levels of waterproofing, making it the perfect shelter for camping in the UK.

The Bobcat pitches in a flash, especially when the inner is left attached after the first pitch. That’s handy for setting up your shelter quickly in fading light after a long trek. Product Description: The OEX Pantha II Ultralite is a whole lot of tent for 1.5kg! The dome design provides a spacious inner with room for two. It also gives it a freestanding structure that doesn’t require much guying. With a skeleton all-in-one pole design, the tent is quick and easy to pitch after a day on the move.

The Pantha is the only tent in the OEX Ultralite range that can be pitched inner-only. If you’re camping in warm and dry summer conditions, you can leave the flysheet at home and cut down your pack weight and size significantly.

High-performance N-Liten Sil/Nylon fabric is stronger and more waterproof* despite its low weight. OEX Endura Poles made from high-tensile aluminium, ultra-light guy lines and premium aluminium pegs all help to keep your rucksack as light as possible when you’re hiking to the camping spot.
