Following very heavy flash floods this week, VisitCornwall have issued the following advice for holiday makers due to visit the region:

There is access to Coverack, but there are diversions and alternative routes in operation, as road repairs take place.

The  village will  welcome you and you can see that it is still a wonderful place and you will be greeted with open arms and big smiles. However, as access is limited, walking into the village rather than driving is is recommended.

Advice for those who are concerned they may not be able to have their Cornish Summer holiday

Firstly, it is important to note that it was only parts of Coverack village that were affected and the rest of Cornwall and parts of Coverack are operating normally and fully open for business. The Lizard peninsula and Cornwall is as beautiful and inviting as ever and you will have a wonderful Cornish holiday in Britain’s number one holiday destination.

We want to stress that it is expected that the village will be up and open within a day or so.

However, some individual properties may take longer to restore or repair and as some of these properties are holiday cottages there may be some temporary problems regarding availability.  It is hoped that many, if not all, should be fully operating soon for those that have booked their stay next week and throughout August and September and beyond

If you have booked accommodation in Coverack, we advise you to contact the accommodation provider (or agency if you booked via a cottage holiday agency) to check if your booked accommodation was affected and whether it will mean that you will need to find alternative accommodation.

If your accommodation is affected, please check with the booked accommodation provider to see whether they may have any alternative options available for you. This is particularly important in the case of booking through a cottage letting agency who may well have some cottages available.

PLEASE CHECK BEFORE making any alterative arrangements yourself as that could result in you having to pay for two rentals.

If after pursuing that route you find yourself still needing alternative accommodation please go to   www.visitcornwall.com/offers where you will find listing for late availability and accommodation offers.
