Camping is a popular holiday choice for large families – but how do you take a large family camping in one car – or in fact, at all?

British firm Multimac is this week celebrating 10 years as the only multi-seated travel solution in the world.

Large families often fear their only option is to move to a bigger, gas-guzzling 7-seater vehicle when a 3rd of 4th child is expected. However, this unique product offers a viable alternative.

Multimac offers a is a unique alternative to upgrading your car – allowing you to upgrade your seating instead.

Created by Engineer Kevin Macliver when he required a proper transport solution for his own brood, Multimac’s popularity has expanded dramatically growing over 400% in the past year alone.

It is the only system that allows up to 4 children to be seated in a row of even the smallest cars – it is a safety child seating system which fits securely on the back seat of your car, and accommodates children from birth to 12 years old.

Fans of the product say it is also a safer option, as it keeps children in a row and away from the boot area, unlike the 7-seater alternative.

Automotive Macliver, the company behind Multimac now boasts a show room in the heart of Birmingham and is able to offer the car-seat on finance, making the solution even more accessible to the families that need it the most.

Early adopters are keen to sing the praises of the system. Monica Watters from Dalkey, Ireland, says she has relied on Multimac for over 7 years to transport her 4 children. Monica explains:

“If Multimac wasn’t available I would have had to get a seven-seater car which wasn’t ideal at the time as I had bought a new 5 series BMW only two years previous, financially the Multimac was a much better option.”

Caroline Hurley from North Petherton in Somerset went further, being the first person to buy not just 1, but 2 Multimacs. Caroline explains:

“We had one fitted into an Audi A4 and one in a Nissan Note. The Nissan Note was bought brand new not long before our 4th child was due and so we would have lost a lot of money trading it in as well as the expense of purchasing a 7-seater. I loved that car and still have it so didn’t want to change that particular car either.”

Both families used Multimac for more than 7 years and say they then passed them on to friends with the same problem.

Founder and Managing Director, Kevin Macliver, says:

“There are over 180,000 people in the UK who have a 3rd or 4th child every year, and each face the same transport problem. Multimac is the only alternative to the 7-seater, hence why we’ve exponential growth in both demand and sales for our product. We are now focusing on developing seating for all sizes of families, so families of 3 or 4 can benefit from the same level of safety and style.”
